The August Love List

August has come to an end beneath the glow of a big beautiful moon.

It was a hot, intense, challenging month.

It was also a month filled with beauty, insight, and synchronicity.

Here are some of the things I loved this month:

I made a flower essence! And an herbal bug and tick spray. I’ve also been making us an evening tea of lemon balm, holy basil, and mint. It’s surprisingly sedating. And delicious.

My sunflower is now sharing its seeds with the birds, the morning glory and trumpet vine are really taking over in the flower garden - but the hummingbirds love them - and we are harvesting peppers and seeds. We learned so much in our garden this year.

We also say a praying mantis. 🙌🏻

There are some good tips here if you want to grow your own herbal teas.

We’d love to visit and learn from him. Because this is the truth.

I’ve been using the tarot this way, and it’s so fun.

I usually listen to music when I walk, but I decided to change things up with some walking podcasts and I enjoy this one. Sometimes listening to other women my age talk about their lives sends me into a shame spiral, but I’m trying to…I don’t know…hold space for myself? while I listen and learn from this, and it’s giving a new energy to my walks.

One Saturday this month when I was walking and listening to music, I had the intense urge to spin. I waited until I got home. This is the vibe I’m bringing into September, although my brother rightly pointed out, it’s a little late for me to become a Deadhead. 😹

Accepting Fear and Sadness as Normal Parts of a Good Life

August’s heat dome brought exhaustion with it and I’ve been feeling the edges of burn-out.

At the very same time, I got a lot of writing done, and started working in some collaborations that feel energized and promising. Life is always shifting, always on the move.

There was this saying in my family when I was growing up. When someone was at the end of their energetic rope, they would say, “I’m worn to a frazzle.”

For sure, I am worn to a frazzle here on this last day of August, but I have a plan for replenishment.

I’m wishing you love.

I’ll see you there!
