So, I turned 51.

No matter how I feel about the number or the speed at which time is passing, I do think of my birthday as my personal new year and a sacred time. I love my Valentine’s Day birthday combo and I strongly encourage everyone to celebrate their birthday with big love.

When I was a preteen living in a small town, there were no Instagram influencers or Youtube tutorials; there was the magazine rack at the drug store where I would find, every fall, a giant double-thick issue of Seventeen.

I went on a road trip with my parents this week to Hopkinsville.

We stayed at Pennyrile State Park, which was beautiful and peaceful. I love State Parks and National Parks and this one is particularly sweet. The flowers around the lodge were so well-kept and attracted a lot of large colorful butterflies who followed me around and fluttered in little dances around me.
